Winter Chili Recipe

Chili is a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is made with beans, meat, vegetables, and spices, and it can be customized to your liking. This recipe is for a basic chili that is easy to make and can be adapted to your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (28-ounce) can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounces) can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15-ounce) can of pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the pot and cook until softened about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, beef broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the chili has thickened.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped onions.

Tips

  • For a spicier chili, add more cayenne pepper.
  • If you don't have chili powder, you can use a combination of ground cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  • You can also add other vegetables to your chili, such as corn, carrots, or zucchini.
  • If you want to make your chili ahead of time, you can cook it and then let it cool completely. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you're ready to serve, reheat the chili over low heat until warmed through.

I hope you enjoy this recipe!
